Your loading dock crew works hard, but that doesn’t mean a mechanical dock leveler has to be labor-intensive. Serco W Series mechanical dock levelers have set the industry standard for mechanical leveler durability, dependability, and operator safety.

Serco’s mechanical dock levelers are built to last. With premium features such as a single-point adjustment extension spring counterbalance, unlimited float hold-down, and an integral maintenance strut and lip support latch, our mechanical dock levelers set the industry standard for dependability and operator safety. And a bonus: They have a lower cost of ownership than conventional mechanical levelers.

MECHANICAL DOCK LEVELER DESIGN ADVANTAGES

  • Easy positioning with Hydra Cam lip control
  • Exclusive SafeTFrame® design
  • Unique counterbalance offers added durability and a single adjustment point
  • Patented POSI-TRAC hold down features smooth, fingertip operation
  • Below-dock Endloading Capability
  • Single Adjustment Point Extension Spring Counterbalance

 POSI-TRAC® hold-down: Smooth, fingertip operation

Throughout loading operations, trailers move up and down, putting a strain on float springs and increasing wear on conventional ratchet/pawl style mechanical levelers. With the increased use of air-ride suspension trailers, restoring the dock leveler off the back of the trailer becomes even more difficult. Time and energy are wasted and replacement parts increase operational costs. That’s why Serco developed Posi-Trac.

The patented Serco Posi-Trac hold-down offers an extended float range throughout the leveler’s working range and provides easy fingertip release. This is accomplished with an exclusive brake band and a 32-tooth spur gear assembly that replaces maintenance-intensive conventional hold-downs. The Posi-Trac eliminates “bouncing” from float spring fatigue. The lip maintains level contact with the truck bed, even with air- ride suspension trailers. In below-dock operations, the Posi- Trac’s hold-down compensates to counteract the mainspring counter-balance of the leveler.

Serco’s unique design is easy to operate, produces less wear on components, is more dependable than ordinary float spring units, and provides an overall lower lifetime cost of ownership than conventional mechanical dock levelers.

INTEGRATE YOUR EQUIPMENT FOR IMPROVED SAFETY AND EFFICIENCY.

When combined with Serco vehicle restraints, mechanical dock levelers and other dock devices provide a safer operation.

4 Tips to Consider When Choosing a Dock Leveler for your Business Facilities' Loading Dock System

Facility managers are always faced with the challenges when it comes to choosing the right loading dock leveler for their warehouses or factory. Either you are a newbie, or a veteran warehouse manager the tasks at hand could mean either a highly efficient and effective productive business or a total disaster. There are several factors to be considered like trailer designs changing, dock leveler’s technological advancements, and a vast market of commercial vendors in the loading dock industry.  Check out below some points to consider in choosing a dock leveler for your business:

·         Tip No. 1: Easy Operability

Convenience and easy to operate are important elements in selecting the right dock leveler. Your team would simply operate the machinery with no hassles from installation to a functioning unit. Usually, most dock levelers still need people to be trained both theoretically and on practical use, select dock levelers that are simple, easy and free-of-over-technicalities. Beneficial additions would be big savings for the training seminar which includes workers, trainers and facility downtime operation hours, which affects the company bottom line profits.

When it comes to convenience, consider Action Automatic Door & Gate’s air-powered dock levelers. Air-powered dock levelers are the first invented dock levelers which were designed to help workers transport goods and items at their convenience and ease of use:

1.Serco Air Bag Dock Leveler Model AB
Serco’s airbag dock leveler is safe and easier to operate with a push a button. Workers would no more have back-wrenching pulling of chains, walking down the deck and no springs or hold-down to repair or replace.

2.Serco Air Powered Edge-of-Dock Model
This air-powered edge-of-dock leveler eliminates manual lifting with its patented high volume, low-pressure airbag lift system. Specially designed with a lift system that fully operates under extreme temperatures of -65 to 180 F (-53 to 82 C).

·         Tip No. 2: Low Maintenance

Some facility planners and decision managers failed and neglected small and long-term factors- systems maintenance costs. While others are budget-wise when it comes to assessing the various market’s competitive pricing, however, it made an oversight on the quality of the product design specifically how the system will require maintenance and its costs.

Commonly, hydraulic systems require less maintenance compared to other types of leveler system, however, some levelers might be more of an upfront design investment. More considerations that need to be evaluated such as how would the system lower the maintenance cost, pre-emptive adjustments to hold down the system and mechanical failure due to overage and usage.

1.Serco Hydraulic Dock Leveler Model HLQ
Designed with new and exclusive SafeTFrame® design, patented HYDRA MAX® powered-in/powered-out lip extension and regenerative hydraulics makes this your ideal low maintenance dock leveler.

5.Serco Mechanical Dock Leveler Model WL

·         Tip No. 3: Leveler Dimension and Size
It is vitally important that facility engineers and planners must consider the leveler capacity when making their business plan.  Analyzing and evaluating several factors down to the last detail like the number of service trucks per day, loads per truck, and sizes of loads per trailer trucks, are the small things that should be considered a big factor by turning small gains to the company opportunities.
